As Person in Charge you will be responsible for the coaching, mentoring, supervising of a staff team  supporting people to live the life of their choosing. You will have strong leadership qualities to ensure the development of an SRV approach to service provision including responsibility for the provision of training and development for each of the coordinators and a track record in leading innovation and change. 

You will be required to demonstrate leadership and an ability to work in a dynamic environment with people supported, staff, families, community leaders. You will demonstrate an ability to provide support and feedback to staff in a valued respectful manner. You will demonstrate ability to present concepts and information relevant to an SRV informed, autism informed and other relevant approaches. You will demonstrate an ability to be creative and solution focused.


Candidate Requirements

  • Knowledge of HIQA requirements essential
  • Proven experience of working with people on the Autistic spectrum is desirable
  • Resilience in working in the community
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Creative in problem solving
  • Highly motivated
  • Successful candidate will have experience in the area of facilitating and supporting people who have high and/or complex needs.
  • A genuine understanding and interest in working alongside people in effecting positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way
  • The ability to listen, to see and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and dreams.
  • Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of team work with motivation to deliver high quality facilitation, working alongside individuals, their families and other disciplines
  • A strong belief in people's rights, inclusion and equality 


Qualification Details

  • A minimum level 7-degree qualification in Social Care, or equivalent

-please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration

  • Minimum of 3 years managerial or supervisory experience in the social care sector
  • Management qualification


Other duties involved - (duties included but are not limited to the following)

  • Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
  • Provide personal care and support to service users where required
  • Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
  • To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
  • Use positive approaches to support children who may have challenging behaviour in line with Organisational practice.


Other Requirements

  • Full driver's license and access to a car is required
  • All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
  • All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application.
  • All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years


Salary Scale

Social Care Leader Pay Scale (Scale Range €50,670 to €59,546 per annum)  

-this is based on full time working hours i.e. 39 per week
