Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Organising and planning drivers and vehicle routes.
Creating and completing daily schedules in full with costs focused mindset.
Completing driver's rosters and agreeing same.
Recording drivers hours to comply with legislation.
Ensuring that vehicle maintenance is carried out as scheduled and in line with company guidelines (keeping to statutory requirements).
Ensuring that current standards of health and safety are met and exceeded.
Undertake incident control and investigation as required in line with company procedures.
Dealing with all relevant customers' requirements.
Ensuring that all drivers, trucks and trailers are well presented and that drivers' skills in relation to performance and customer care reflect the correct image of the company.
Identifying and implementing increased efficiencies in order to maximise our service offering.
To work in partnership with customers (both internal and external) to ensure optional service levels at all times.
To act as the interface between the transport function and other functions as necessary to ensure a seamless provision of service.
- Ongoing review of the transport function in order to devises and implement optimal transport solutions
To ensure that all drivers and trucks and trailers are well presented and that drivers skills in relation to performance and customer care reflect the correct image of the company.
Holiday cover where required.
Complete weekly figures and KPI as required by the business.
Recording driver's hours, haulier costs and extra costs incurred by the business each day.
Recording all customers DOT and completion of the end of shift in a timely manner.
Any other duties / tasks as outlined by your Manager.
Flexibility is required to work shift work and to work outside of normal hours to suit the requirements of the Business.
On call after hours to deal with any issue which may arise.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Weekly budget targets CPC
- DOT (delivered on time) target or 97% or better
- 100% compliant in all aspects of transport
- Team work, good communications and clear handovers
- Maintenance compliance adherence
Key Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
Full clean B license is necessary
At least 2 years' experience within the Transport/Logistics industry
Experience in route planning, dealing with drivers in a team and national work
Experience with inbound and outbound logistics
Experience in preparing and managing budgets/KPI's
Good IT skills - competent in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
Good communication skills
Good planning and organizing skills
Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
Ability to work and act under pressure
Desirable:
Qualification in Logistics Management would be an advantage
Possession of transport managers CPC would be desirable although not essential.
