As the Engineering Stores Controller, you will take ownership of setting up and managing our new engineering stores function. This is a hands-on role that requires both operational expertise and strategic thinking. Your primary goal will be to establish efficient inventory management processes to support maintenance and production teams, ensuring the availability of critical spare parts and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and organize the stores function within our engineering department from scratch, including layout planning and shelving requirements.
• Develop and implement inventory management processes, including stock control, re-order levels, and supplier relationships.
• Maintain accurate records of all parts, tools, and materials using digital inventory management systems.
• Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure all required spares and tools are available when needed.
• Source and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of engineering components and consumables.
• Conduct stock audits regularly to maintain optimal stock levels and avoid shortages.
• Manage stock turnover to prevent obsolete parts and materials from accumulating.
• Establish a system for issuing parts and receiving returns from the engineering team, ensuring traceability of all items.
• Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in stock management and procurement processes.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment within the stores area, adhering to food manufacturing standards.
