BenchMark are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Practice Accountant to join our client who are a dynamic and growing accounting firm in Wales.
You will join a practice who “do things differently” and be a part of a fun and dynamic working environment.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, helping them manage their finances effectively while ensuring compliance with UK regulations.
As a key part of the team, you will manage client portfolios, oversee the preparation of financial accounts, and provide advisory services on tax and financial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
• Produce accurate financial statements in line with UK accounting standards, including FRS 102 and FRS 105, for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Prepare and file corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and personal tax returns. Advise clients on tax planning, identifying potential tax savings and ensuring compliance with UK tax laws.
• Maintain and manage a portfolio of clients, building strong relationships and offering proactive advice to help clients achieve their business goals.
• Assist in or manage audits for clients where required, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts, providing insights into performance and helping clients make informed business decisions.
• Work closely with junior staff, providing guidance and mentorship. Review their work, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Provide financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis to clients, helping them plan for future growth and sustainability.
• Identify areas where clients can streamline their accounting and financial operations, offering practical solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or equivalent.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working in an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including FRS 102/105 and UK GAAP.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage client relationships.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Commercial awareness and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
