Our client, a large government customer, are seeking a Project Engineer to join their team. This hybrid role is based in Bristol with site working required 2-3 times/week, and occasional travel to other sites. The role requires DV clearance and candidates must be sole UK nationals.
Initial requirements are scheduled to run until 31/03/2026 and offer a rate up to £750/day.
IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

Brief Team Description
The Project Engineer for “Strike Network for Commando Force” will be responsible for delivering engineering deliverables and assurance for the project. This project will deliver a modern and sophisticated communications system to specialist Commando Force operators to enhance their existing communications capability. The assignment is in the Special Projects Tactical Communications Delivery Team (SPTC DT), will report to the Portfolio 1 Lead Engineer and work in a multi-disciplinary project team.
Main Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the development and maintenance of engineering artefacts, such as the EMP, GEAR Review Reports and other plans.
- Manage requirements, acceptance, and delivery of the system to the customer.
- Plan and contribute to the development of the equipment safety case.
- Produce and maintain system configuration baseline documentation.
- Produce and assure technical requirements and accept technical deliverables for project elements that are contracted out.
- Participate in identification, selection, evaluation, performance verification and demonstrations within their technical area.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of and experience working with modern communication systems.
- Professionally Registered status or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Member of a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute or equivalent body.
- Relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience working in DE&S for an equipment delivery project.
- Technical experience in their discipline or specialist area in a variety of contexts.
- Previous experience of working with UK Commando Force.
Candidate Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas cannot be accepted.
