Operating across the South of England with their Head Office based near Hungerford our client is seeking a full time HSEQ Adviser / Manager to cover a number of projects around Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset regions.

Their various projects within the public sector typically within the Reactive and Term maintenance sector with a majority of work within social housing and some commercial builds. The role will be 3 days per week visiting sites, 2 days per week in the office but this can be a flexible arrangement.

Seeking a motivated and skilled HSEQ Manager / Advisor to oversee all aspects of health & safety, quality and the environment at site and management level.

Maintain the organisations Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality management system.

Provide Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all jobs.

Provide professional support and advice to the Senior Management Team and staff on Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality matters.

Provide an Assurance and Audit role in the company and liaise with external accreditation bodies and auditors.

Assist staff and sub-contractors in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards and contractual arrangements.

Engage with and provide training for staff and managers to maximise improvements in skills and safety performance.

Job Description:

  • Provide support in developing, reviewing and maintaining the HSEQ management system. Identify and implement initiatives to improve it including procedures, processes, safe systems of work, offering support and advice on Risk Assessments, Method statements and COSHH.
  • Provide positive leadership and promote the adoption of best practice.
  • Responsible for developing, promoting, and monitoring the HSEQ culture.
  • Lead and direct functional management for any HSEQ personnel under your guidance.
  • Provide advice on the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires and tender submissions for matters relating to HSEQ.
  • Identify areas of risk and develop measures to reduce and control harm.
  • Identify initiatives to improve performance and assist in addressing areas of poor performance.
  • Produce HSEQ performance reports as required.
  • Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents.
  • Overall responsibility/ authority for all incidents and accident investigations.
  • Advise the group on legislative and regulation updates, ensuring all QMS documentation is kept up to date as required.

Key Skills:

Experience in safety and environment within the construction industry desirable.

  • Good academic qualifications, minimum of NEBOSH certificate (General and/or Construction Certificate) or equivalent desirable.
  • Experience with a HSEQ management system.
  • Experience in the maintenance of ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.
  • Auditor skills.
  • Experience of managing and developing staff.
  • Hold a full, clean driving licence.
  • NEBOSH. 
  • IOSH.
