Plant Service Controller

£38,000 - £40,000/annum

A leading construction company require an experienced Plant Service Controller to join them at this exciting time of growth.

Duties include:

· Responding to sites reporting plant breakdowns ensuring the fault is solved as quickly as possible with the least amount of machine down time to ensure site productivity.

· Consulting with site foremen / supervisors to arrange machine servicing at a convenient time for them, whilst keeping within manufactures servicing guidelines.

· Ordering replacement parts, service maintenance kits and oils.

· Communicating with the hire desk to ensure they are aware of any machines that cannot be repaired in a reasonable period.

· Consult with machine manufacturers to ensure that machines are repaired under warranty.

· Managing calls reporting tyre punctures or burst hydraulic hoses and ensure the repair companies attend as quickly as possible.

· Check the plant mechanics worksheets to assess which jobs are deemed as site damage and ensure the sites are then charged for all damage related repairs.

· Ensure all equipment which requires compliance under LOLER legislation has twelve monthly safety inspections conducted under Loler regulations.

· Ensuring equipment is checked on a regular basis to ensure compliance with PUWER legislation

· Ensuring equipment is checked between hires.

· Maintain standards of safety and comply with Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements.

· Ensure all engineers are provided with risk assessments and method statements and are instructed that they are to be followed for all activities

· Make sure suitable PPE is worn by all engineers during all work tasks both on site and in the yard as per the controls in the risk assessments.

· Raise any concerns related to H&S to the site management and your line manager.

· Ensuring that the fleet is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations and is in a safe and efficient working condition.

· Ensure all our own personnel and our suppliers are compliant with our health and safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and method statements

· Ensure that a planned preventative maintenance schedule is established that periodic tests, inspections, and maintenance is completed in accordance with LOLER and PUWER regulations. Ensure that any defects notified are rectified in a timely manner and equipment is taken out of service where any defects are reported which impact on the safe use of the equipment.

Qualifications/Experience:

· Demonstrable experience of managing and maintaining a fleet of construction machinery

· Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements

· Good knowledge and technical understanding of plant machinery manufacturers

· Experience with using a service reporting system to log breakdowns / job sheets

· Ideally from a plant hire background with a broad knowledge of plant equipment
