Holtec Britain is a member of the Holtec International family; a global leader in designing an unconditionally safe and secure source of clean energy. Holtec has received funding from the FNEF to advance its SMR programme, and is building its brand new team based in Bristol.

Join our team at Holtec Britain to contribute to the design of the SMR-300 small modular reactor, a pioneering source of clean energy. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be pivotal in producing and reviewing electrical engineering assessments, supporting the development of the electrical engineering chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct electrical engineering assessments of power plant systems.
  • Support the development of the electrical engineering sections of the Safety Case for submission in the SMR-300 GDA.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external organisations, including nuclear regulators.
  • Defend electrical design positions.
  • Actively participate in a project-driven and highly integrated engineering team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in nuclear power station electrical system design, including on-site distribution (AC and DC), off-site interfaces (substation), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system, and diesel generators.
  • Developing nuclear safety functional requirements for electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable (including nuclear-specific) IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ISA, and ANSI codes and standards.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, capable of presenting at multiple organisational levels and to external regulatory stakeholders.
  • Credible decision-maker, able to create confidence through crafting strong justifications and arguments.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
