Job Title - Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)
Site location - Nottingham
Responsible to - Project Director
Purpose of the role - As an Mechanical Design Engineer you’ll help breathe life into our clients designs by creating mechanical design models and drawings. You’ll have the autonomy to design mechanical services in many sectors of the industry and will be client facing, representing our client at all levels. You’ll also get to collaborate with architects, quantity surveyors, project managers and structural engineers from external design teams.
Client brief - Our client is a well-established leading engineering and environmental consultancy in Building Services with offices throughout the UK and around the globe. Their welcoming and diverse team are working on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in the UK and across the world. From sustainability-focused offices and commercial premises to cutting-edge healthcare facilities and from award-winning retail developments to major new residential communities, you’ll have the opportunity to play a major role in delivering schemes across a huge range of sectors.

Salary - £38,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Holidays - 26 days + Bank Holidays rising to 31 days with loyalty days + BH

Hybrid – Yes, Possible hybrid working of 3 days in the office – 2 days at home

Although we’re happy to consider applicants with more or less experience, you’ll ideally have qualifications, experience or skills in the following areas:

  • Have a relevant degree or equivalent for a career in building services engineering
  • You’ll be fluent in design software tools such as REVIT and ideally have had exposure to MagiCAD
  • You’re a great communicator who can adapt to working with external parties and clients whilst gelling with our growing team
  • You’ll have a deep understanding of project needs and will be able to manage their full delivery
  • You’ll have recognised qualifications in mechanical services design and will either be working towards chartered status, or have an interest in doing so
  • You’re happy working both autonomously or as part of a team to support the delivery of projects
  • Experience of managing people would be an advantage
  • You’re happy to be flexible - We take a collaborative approach to delivering our projects and you’ll be happy travelling and working with colleagues from across Waterman
