You will be joining a company with passionate employees, who work in a supportive and collaborative environment, fostering a strong sense of team spirit across our services.

Providing a dual service, offering both a therapy-led Level 2 Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation service and specialist neurological care to residents with a range of neurological conditions. Their holistic approach, combined with their wide-ranging staff expertise, enables them to optimise their client's health and well-being, promote their independence, and address their emotional and social needs.

You will be working in a modern facility, that offers an excellent working environment and supports various established group therapies, including the breakfast group, upper limb group, and rehab champions group. Committed to integrating innovative practices, such as hydrotherapy and emerging technologies like Virtual Reality (VR) techniques, into their therapeutic offerings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Occupational Therapist in their Level 2 Neuro Rehabilitation Unit, you will be a key member of their interdisciplinary team, responsible for the holistic assessment and treatment of patients with complex neurological conditions. Your duties will include:

  • Clinical Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide individualised rehabilitation plans using evidence-based practice and specialised clinical skills. Set and review SMART goals during formal and informal therapy sessions.
  • Patient and Family Support: Support clients, families, and staff to work towards established rehabilitation goals, setting realistic expectations and facilitating effective discharge planning.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in relevant community activities and perform access and home visits across Lancashire and South Cumbria to assist with assessments and graded discharges.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with team leaders, therapists, nursing teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Documentation and Standards: Maintain detailed records in line with professional standards, applying your expertise in clinical reasoning to ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Risk and Conflict Management: Perform clinical risk assessments, develop risk management plans, and apply strong conflict resolution skills to manage difficult conversations when necessary.
  • Innovation and Emerging Practices: Explore and integrate new technologies, such as VR, into practice to stay at the forefront of neurorehabilitation.

Research and Development opportunities

Our client fosters research opportunities within their service and provide local supervision and development within the MDT. Whilst maintaining strong working relationships with other Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) nationwide, enhancing peer support and learning opportunities.

Their interdisciplinary team includes registered nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Assistant Practitioners, and Rehabilitation Assistants. They receive weekly input from their Neuro Rehabilitation Consultant and offer unique therapeutic opportunities such as Neuro Music Therapy.
