Shifts: Days and Nights- 7 on, 3 off, 7 on , 4 off (7am-5pm/5pm-3am)

Contract length: 6 months (likely to extend)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Section Engineer to join the civils team on a temporary basis for Major Projects at Hinkley Point C

Your role as the Section Engineer will be supervising a team of 3 site engineers, ensuring they are fully conversant with the construction methodology for the civil engineering works

Key Accountabilities

  • Checking technical information (specifications and drawings); identification of any ambiguities or shortcomings therein and submission of Technical Queries to enable their resolution; take off materials from drawings

  • Managing the development of HSEQ controls for the civil engineering works

  • Managing the detailed look-ahead programme for the civil engineering works

  • Delegation of dimensional control to the Site engineers and ensuring that the Temporary and permanent Works are consistently and accurately set out

  • Managing the calibration of survey equipment

  • Assistance with the day-to-day management of the civil engineering works and the coordination of civil engineering operations with those of other disciplines

  • Safety management duties as delegated by line management

  • Deputy to the Temporary Works Coordinator

  • Assistance with the management and control of resources (labour, plant and materials) to minimise waste and disruption to progress

  • Reporting at weekly construction team meetings, including progress, any stoppages, additional work instructed and any opportunities for performance improvement

  • Ensuring that complete and accurate records are kept of the civil engineering work to protect the company’s interests and demonstrate compliance with HSEQ requirements

Skills & Experience required

  • Civil Engineering Degree

  • Previous site experience in Civil Engineering within the UK

  • Ability to manage a section site engineering team

  • Competent on CAD software and excel

  • SMSTS- preferred but can be trained

  • Temporary Works Knowledge
