Consortio Recruitment Group have an fantastic opportunity to start a career in Health & Safety with a leading Civil Engineering / Groundworks company. They are one of the UK,s leading contractors and have multiple offices across the UK. You will be based out of the Office in Oxford with site visits and being trained in this new role. We are seeking an ambitious and motivated individual to join our Health and Safety department as a Trainee SHE Advisor. The purpose of this role will be to provide complete support to the Regional SHE Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their knowledge and skills in safety legislation, policies and practices and who wishes to develop into a Regional SHE Advisor.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to the Regional SHE Manager.

  • Gain an accurate understanding of the organisations SHE policies and management system.

  • Attend pre-commencement meetings as requested to gain experience on key decisions made by the contract team.

  • Aid the Regional SHE Manager in the evaluation of pre-commencement risks and appropriate discharge of the requirements of CDM 2015.

  • Assist the Regional SHE Manager in applying for statutory notices when required.

  • Review in conjunction with the Regional SHE Manager the content and details of the construction phase H&S plan and traffic management plans.

  • Investigate and provide written reports for incidents / accidents and ill health under the guidance of the Regional SHE Manager.

  • Bring to the attention of the Regional SHE Manager or others any serious breaches of Company policy, procedures and legislation.

  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced, liaising with the Regional SHE Manager in the process.

  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider relevant hazards.

  • Audit working practices / safe systems of work in compliance with legislation and offer best practice advice when necessary.

  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements - Assist with close out of nonconformance.

  • Provide support to the Regional SHE Manager in the recording of incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.

  • Promote and assist implementation of the organisations occupational H&S and environmental policies and procedures across all developments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths (Grading A-C or 5-9).

  • NEBOSH qualification. Will consider someone who is looking for a career in health and Safety.

  • Strong administration skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Hard working and willingness to learn.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Ambitious.

  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.

  • Team player.

  • Clean Driver’s License.

Desirable:

  • CSCS Card.

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Law.

  • Previous experience within a low level/junior Health and Safety role.
