Description
Our local government client is recruiting a Land Charges Officer, who will be crucial in maintaining and managing the Local Land Charges Register. This register contains details of legal restrictions or obligations that affect a property or land, making your role integral to our operations. These restrictions could include planning permissions, tree preservation orders, conservation areas, or listed building status.
Responsibility
The job involves carrying out searches on behalf of property buyers, solicitors, and other interested parties to identify any charges or restrictions that may affect the property or land, ensure that relevant parties are informed of any legal restrictions or obligations that may affect a property or land, protect the interests of buyers and owners, and support the effective management of land and property.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Degree-level qualification or experience in a similar role.
- GIS mapping systems Earthlight and other databases IDOX cloud
- Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Essential - Skills, Abilities, & Experience
- Practical knowledge of GIS mapping systems, such as Earthlight and other databases, such as IDOX cloud.
- Knowledge of planning, building control, and written records to collate all the relevant information on the site's history.
- Good knowledge and experience of using IT systems.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work with minimum supervision, making appropriate decisions to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure, delivering a high degree of accuracy.
- Must be a flexible team player and able to work collaboratively.
- Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills to articulate messages to various audiences in a structured and balanced way appropriate to the reader's needs.
- Ability to interpret and make decisions by applying legislation appropriately and consistently.
- Ability to use a range of ICT databases, such as Idox Cloud (Land Charges, Planning, Building Control), Google Suite, and Earthlight.
- Ability to work within the Equal Opportunities Framework to communicate effectively with service users within a diverse community.
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret Land Use maps.
- Demonstrate ability to use and maintain records on computer and manual systems.
- Knowledge of Land Charges legislation and practice, including its principles, processes and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of other relevant legislation related to Land Charges, such as the Town and Country Planning Act, Building Regulations, Common Land, Environmental Information Regulations, Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection legislation, and how they apply to the work of a Land Charges officer.
