The company

A growing well-respected Construction Regional Contractor with regional offices throughout the UK. The business has built a fantastic reputation within the industry and are now looking to recruit a Carbon / Sustainability Manager to join the team.

They have built their reputation by being committed to delivering a personalised service, adapting their approach to suit each individual client. This approach has allowed them to successfully grow year on year, which has enabled them to solidify their presence in the Home Counties.

Operating in multiple sectors, their projects spread across Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Hotel, Extra Care and Mixed-Use schemes.

The role

  • Develop and implement the Decarbonisation/Net Zero strategy and routemaps towards the delivery of the sustainability strategy. Ensure milestones and objectives are achieved and report on progress to senior key stakeholders.
  • Work in partnership with other areas of the business to ensure energy efficient and carbon reduction business practices are embedded throughout the organisation to achieve the implementation of the Decarbonisation strategy.
  • Key to this role is the ability to work with other teams (e.g. Designers, Estimators, Commercial and Operations on energy efficient and carbon reduction initiatives – identifying opportunities for new ways of working that differentiate the business from competitors.
  • Improvement of our data management and analysis processes, such that we understand better our environmental impact from energy and carbon use and can manage it more efficiently going forward.
  • Work closely with Procurement team to advise on new opportunities to decarbonise within supply chain, ensuring these requirements and targets are clearly referenced in contract documents.
  • Work in partnership with project teams to ensure upfront embodied carbon reduction business practices are embedded throughout the project life cycle.
  • Provide energy and carbon data in line with corporate reporting requirements, including calculation and reporting of Scope 1,2 & 3 carbon emissions
  • Ensure reporting of energy performance in line with governance, legislative requirements, and commitment.
