The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to start their career in commercial management within the civil engineering sector. As a Trainee Commercial Manager, you will be immersed in all aspects of the commercial processes, gaining hands-on experience and learning from our experienced team. You will assist in managing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring profitability and efficiency, while developing a deep understanding of the civil engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting in Cost Management: Support in the preparation and management of project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reports.
• Contract Administration: Learn to manage contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
• Procurement Support: Assist in the procurement of subcontractors, materials, and services, ensuring value for money and quality.
• Risk Management: Help identify and mitigate commercial risks associated with projects.
• Client Liaison: Develop skills in managing client relationships, understanding their needs, and ensuring their satisfaction.
• Site Visits: Participate in regular site visits to gain practical insights into project delivery and site operations.

What We're Looking For

• Education: A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
• Passion for the Industry: A keen interest in the civil engineering and construction sectors, with a desire to build a career in commercial management.
• Numerical & Analytical Skills: Strong numerical abilities, attention to detail, and an analytical mindset.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
• Proactive & Eager to Learn: A self-starter with a strong work ethic, eager to learn and take on new challenges.
