Arlington Moore is working on behalf of a well-established company, with exciting plans for change and growth.  Due to this, they are looking to appoint a Senior Buyer / Materials Planner.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager the role of Senior Buyer / Materials Planner will be to lead and help develop the purchasing team to support the business operations by ensuring the correct raw materials are available to satisfy customer requirements whilst maintaining stock within agreed levels. 

Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer / Materials Planner:

  • Creating / releasing orders to suppliers
  • Ensuring ERP messages are actioned
  • Reviewing and reporting materials against production plans; identifying any potential outages / risk in material supply and liaising with the suppliers to resolve
  • Root cause any raw material outages that impact the business
  • Creating material forecasts
  • Reviewing inventory levels
  • Maintaining data integrity within the item master data
  • Attending applicable business/operations
  • Working closely with the production planning and customer service teams
  • Assisting with supplier performance analysis
  • First point of escalation for issues impacting the purchasing team
  • Supervising and coaching other members of the purchasing team

Experience required for the role of Senior Buyer / Materials Planner

  • Purchasing experience ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment although not essential
  • Materials planning experience
  • Excellent communicator who is competent at developing relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Essential experience of working with purchasing modules in ERP/MRP system
  • Proficient IT skills with strong knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail

You may currently be working in a purchasing role as a Purchaser or a Buyer or in procurement; ideally you will have some supervisory experience but a capability of this would be required as a minimum.  This would be a good opportunity for someone who is looking to move into a full supervision role, but also be involved in procurement, purchasing, buying, supply chain projects including optimization.
