Progress Teachers are working closely with a dynamic Pupil Referral Unit in Stafford. Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate behaviour mentor to join their team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teaching staff in delivering engaging lessons and activities, catering to the diverse needs of students within the unit.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students who may require additional assistance, ensuring their unique learning requirements are met.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment by effectively managing student behaviour and fostering a supportive atmosphere.
  • Work closely with teachers to plan and implement effective teaching strategies, adapting to the varied learning styles and abilities of students.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials, ensuring that resources are accessible and conducive to a productive learning environment.
  • Regularly assess and report on student progress, collaborating with teachers to identify areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Support the integration of students with diverse needs into mainstream education settings, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting inclusivity.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Possess a minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, demonstrating a solid understanding of educational principles.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a similar role, particularly within a Pupil Referral Unit or alternative education setting, is highly desirable.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Team Player: Work collaboratively with the teaching team and other professionals to create a supportive and cohesive learning environment.
  • Resilience: Demonstrate resilience and patience in managing challenging behaviours and situations.
