Health & Safety Manager

Our client is a highly successful manufacturer and wholesaler, who supply FMCG products to retail outlets across the UK. They are now looking to recruit an experienced Health & Safety professional, who would be responsible for implementing and maintaining HS&E standards across the business. 

This is a newly-created position, where the successful candidate will be responsible for drawing up procedures, monitoring HS&E across multiple UK sites, and become the 'go-to' person in the business for all HS&E requirements. 

Key responsibilities are:
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures across all sites.
  • Review and implement emergency planning & evacuation procedures.
  • Provide health and safety advice and guidance to all levels of the business.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans including COSHH assessments.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs & assist in staff inductions.
  • Chair environmental & sustainability group meetings.
  • Organise & prepare OHAS assessments working with the team to ensure corrective action is taken place.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Monitor and review health and safety performance metrics.
  • Keep up to date with relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Work with external agencies and stakeholders on health and safety issues.
  • Lead health and safety committees and other relevant forums
  • Work with team to conduct regular internal audits to ensure we are working to compliance standards.
  • Lead compliance audits and work with stakeholders on corrective actions.
Skills & Experience required:
  • Experienced HS&E professional with relevant NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experienced in implementing HS&E processes in a manufacturing environment would be preferred.
  • Extensive working knowledge of health & safety at work regulations.
  • Excellent overall communication skills.
  • UK driving license, happy to commute to other business locations as required.
  • Knowledge of OHAS procedures desirable.
  • Able to work independently, but as part of a team.
  • Very good general IT skills (MS Office).
