Major Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for a Mechanical Technician for our long-established client on a Fixed-Term Contract with a high possibility of being made Permanent. Our client, a leading name in oilfield equipment, is looking to add a dynamic member to their diverse team.
Location: Kintore
Pay: Up to £16.42/h, paid weekly.
Hours: 0700 - 15:30 M-T, 0700 - 1430 Friday
Duration: 6 Month Fixed Term - High possibility of Permanent role
What you will be doing as a Mechanical Technician:
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
- Manufacture hydraulic systems as per designs/procedures, ensuring the cleanliness of hydraulic systems is always maintained
- Monitor and control materials, products, and equipment to detect defects or faults and report issues immediately
- Support key initiatives such as on time delivery, schedule attainment, cost of quality
- Maintain a safe, organised, clean and tidy work area following 5S and LEAN Principles
- Support initiatives such as new techniques and products, purchases of new machinery
- Generate and implement improvement ideas and encourage idea generation among team
- Respond to identified process improvements and implement them willingly
- Attend daily team brief meetings, actively engaging in positive discussions regarding potential problematic areas
- Action all tasks assigned to maintain high levels of target achievement
- Ensure product quality meets the required standard whilst maintaining output KPIs
- Demonstrate awareness of and promote company objectives, policies and procedures
- Adhere to inspection/fat criteria, policies and procedures
- Carry out other duties as and when required
What our client is looking for in a Mechanical Technician:
- Ability to understand, evaluate and apply technical information
- Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings, schematics and ETS as well as written instructions and procedures
- Ability to learn the context of a challenge and quickly integrate new skills
- Offers solutions and suggestions that are effective in addressing the problem at hand
- Willing to provide colleagues with the information required to complete their tasks and eliminate roadblocks
- Able to identify critical information and respond appropriately
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident and professional both face-to-face and in writing

Qualifications and experience for the Mechanical Technician Role:
Essential:
- Time Served Apprenticeship OR NC in a relevant subject
- Background in mechanical based profession
- Ability to operate basic hand and power tools
Desirable:
- Higher Education in a relevant subject
- Working knowledge within an assembly & manufacturing environment
- Forklift and overhead crane certificates
