Job Description

Construction Manager 

Role purpose:

To provide technical operational management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising of construction and supervisory resources at all levels and facilitation of strong links with other teams within and external to the project.

As the Senior Project Manager, you will be directly accountable for overseeing the construction activities related to the projects and be fully responsible for their overall success. The Senior Project Manager must be able to coordinate the site teams to organise, plan, motivate, coordinate and direct the construction effort, ensuring all activities are managed accordingly.

In this role, you will work closely with the Operations, Commercial and Pre-Construction Managers and other senior management within the project execution function.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of all construction elements in the refurbishment sector and be able to act as the point of contact for the projects on-site and will be the go-to person for all construction-related issues.

What you will contribute to the team.

  • Strong leadership skills with outcome focused collaborative behaviours.
  • Assist in the creation and maintain a culture of zero harm accidents or incidents relating to occupational and personal safety, security, health issues, and environmental matters.
  • Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System and drives change when required
  • Manage and direct project programs, budgets, and resource allocations to meet or exceed project goals.
  • Ensure the subcontractor’s construction methods, procedures and practices are properly complied with in all respects, particularly those relating to quality assurance, safety, personnel and the public.
  • Liaise as necessary on matters of quality, design, progress and safety with the Client and Clients representatives.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Review and monitor contractor compliance for proposed construction safety and are complying with their own project quality plans.
  • Substantial experience of managing refurbishment works on large construction projects and construction management teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of construction management software and tools
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering an environment of professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrate leadership in managing a varied and busy workload, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.

Experienced required:

  • Construction Degree holder, or similar equivalent, with multi-disciplinary breadth.
  • Proven, evidential experience of Managing a large, multi-disciplined team.
  • Demonstrable experience of embedding a strong safety culture
  • Strong stakeholder management skills are essential.
  • Proven experience in managing subcontractors and working with a major/Tier 1 contractor.
  • Strong on technical details and with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Sound commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Large scale project experience.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Requirements.

  • SMSTS – Essential.
  • NVQ Level 6 or above.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Prince2/PMP - Desirable.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH - Desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel and MS Projects - Essential.
  • A thorough knowledge of CDM regulations & Legislation.
