Job Summary:
The Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry will provide expert psychiatric care to adults with a wide range of mental health conditions. This role includes the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings across multiple locations within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. The consultant will lead the multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care and actively contributing to developing and improving psychiatric services.

Experience:
•  Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of general adult psychiatric disorders.
•  Proven ability to manage complex cases and make sound clinical decisions.
•  Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and leading clinical services.

Skills and Abilities:
•  Strong clinical skills in psychiatry, including psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
•  Leadership and management skills, with a commitment to improving service delivery.
•  Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work efficiently under pressure.

Knowledge:
•  In-depth knowledge of psychiatric conditions affecting adults, along with the latest treatment approaches and guidelines.
•  Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation.
•  Awareness of current trends and developments in general adult psychiatry.

Qualifications:
•  MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
•  MRCPsych (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) or equivalent qualification.
•  CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in General Adult Psychiatry or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
•  Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
•  AC status
