Database Reliability Engineer

Up to £50k

Glasgow - hybrid working (1 day per week)

Head Resourcing are pleased to be working with one of Scotland's biggest success stories as they look to hire a Database Reliability Engineer. This role will be based at our clients Glasgow office and be responsible for ensuring their database systems are reliable, available, and performant.

As part of the Database Reliability Engineering Team, you will manage all aspects of their on-premises SQL Server estate and their expanding cloud database systems. This will include planning and implementing high-availability, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning and ensuring there is robust backup, restore and failover processes. You will also play a role in shaping the expanding cloud database system.

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as terraform, PowerShell, or other scripting languages
  • Knowledge of database design, architecture and security practises
  • Understanding of always-on availability groups, security, and encryption techniques such as Always Encrypted
  • Familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools, such as GitHub and Azure DevOps

This role would suit someone looking to advance their career who has at least basic knowledge / understanding of databases as well as experience with IAC / Reliability Engineering.
