Position: Production Engineer

Location: Ideally in the Surrey area commutable from Bromley, Woking, Croydon, Crawley, Wimbledon, Feltham, Slough, Guildford, Dartford, Woolwich, Gravesend, Maidstone, Twickenham 

Remuneration: £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE), annual bonus, holiday, pension + additional company benefits

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising and managing production processes, ensuring the efficient overhaul, repair, and assembly of complex products. This position requires a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges, designing and implementing production solutions, and continuously improving processes to achieve excellence in manufacturing and production operations.

Key Production Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key point of contact for resolving all technical issues related to production, focusing on the overhaul, repair, and improvement of existing products.
  • Provide frontline support for production-related challenges and proactively identify opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Development and documentation of production processes, create and update comprehensive work instructions to meet production requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documents for all tasks performed and decisions made throughout the production cycle.
  • Innovate and design tooling and equipment to optimise production tasks.
  • Provide day-to-day support for projects in their startup phase, including preparations for the first article inspection.
  • Assist in the refinement of processes to ensure smooth transition to serial production, emphasising efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with production management, production control, project management, and engineering teams to deliver required tools, processes, and solutions.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities using lean production methodologies, aiming to eliminate waste and optimise resource utilisation.
  • Regularly review production processes to identify areas for improvement, implementing best practices to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

Production Engineer Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, HNC/HND or equivalent qualifications and significant practical experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience within a complex manufacturing or production setting.
  • Strong practical engineering skills with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for design and drafting.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in creating and managing technical documentation.
  • Experience with developing and documenting standard operating procedures, work instructions, and job packs.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively at a technical level with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, with a keen interest in applying lean principles.
