They are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with expertise in carpentry and joinery to join their dynamic team.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor specializing in carpentry and joinery, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of large-scale projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will play a key role in cost control, procurement, and contract management, and will work closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cost management for carpentry and joinery projects from tender through to completion.
  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities, cost estimates, and budgets.
  • Manage procurement processes, including negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor financial progress, prepare valuations, and manage payments.
  • Conduct regular cost reporting and risk assessments.
  • Assess and value variations and deal with contract claims.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
  • Provide strategic advice on cost planning, value engineering, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms, conditions, and specifications.
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors within the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional membership with a recognized body such as RICS or CIOB is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years focused on carpentry and joinery.
  • Solid knowledge of construction materials, techniques, and market conditions within the carpentry and joinery sector.
  • Experience managing high-value contracts and complex projects.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
