The Company

My client is successful, dynamic and growing contracting business who work within Power and Substations Construction.

They are currently growing year on year in the UK and have a healthy turnover.

As a result of increased workload, and a significant major projects they are looking to hire a Design Engineer to contribute to Design Review of Consultancy provides Design Specifications.

The Role


Responsible for the xhecking of  Civil Engineer Design elements of projects using industry standard software
Ensuring civil design elements for projects are in line with client specification, current industry guidance and codes of practice.
Ensure all engineering deliverables are undertaken in accordance with the company's design management Procedures.
Engagement with local authorities/municipalities/utilities to ensure design is in accordance with planning requirements and gains sign off.
Managing and responding to technical submissions.
Client interfacing, including very occasional site visits across central Scotland.


The Candidate

Excellent interpersonal skills with a preference for verbal communication and management.
Understand/Read sections, elevation and plan drawings of masonry, steel and concrete structures, drainage, roadworks.

Should be able to communicate in English and be proficient in writing technical reports.
Civil/Structural design experience and knowledge of a broad range of civil engineering fields (SuDS/drainage, roads/transport, concrete, steel, masonry, geotechnics, utilities, etc) would be a distinct advantage; however, it is not necessary to have technical expertise in all of these areas.
Critical thinking skills with aptitude for innovative design and value engineering.
Experience of temporary works design
Team player who demonstrates high level of initiative.

High level of computer literacy with proficiency in relevant software (AutoCad)

BIM familiarity is also advantageous.
