Role Description

This is a part-time, interim, on-site position for a Finance Administrator to cover maternity leave, located in Cheltenham. The Finance Administrator will be responsible for day-to-day financial tasks, including managing cash flow, processing payroll, maintaining the sales and purchase ledgers, and handling ad-hoc tasks.

Job Purpose

To ensure the financial records and systems of the business are accurately maintained, cash flow is closely monitored, and regular, timely management information is provided to Directors to enable them to monitor performance.*Principal Responsibilities**

- Maintaining all financial records accurately and on a timely basis, within agreed systems.
- Financial reporting, KPI monitoring, and production of management information (MI) data.
- Managing the process of temporary workers’ weekly timesheets, client invoicing, and payroll.
- Managing weekly cash flow, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and client invoices are settled within agreed terms.
- Monthly payroll management and reconciliation with HMRC and pension providers.
- Ensuring VAT compliance.
- Managing credit control.
- Acting as the main point of contact for financial queries.
- Overseeing purchasing and office services management.
- Preparing weekly bank reconciliations.
- Completing any other tasks as directed by the Managing Director.

Specification

Essential Skills

- Good level of general education, with high proficiency in English and Maths.
- Extensive experience working in a finance function and managing end-to-end financial processes.
- Excellent experience and understanding of Sage 50 and Excel (including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Ability to prepare management accounts and develop reports to highlight key business issues.
- Experience processing and managing payroll systems and relationships with third-party providers.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate key variances and report findings.
- Highly organized with the ability to follow key processes.
- Ability to work independently to resolve problems and issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain finance to non-finance colleagues.
- Flexible attitude with the ability to adapt to change.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take initiative.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills

- AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience.
- Experience in schools or early years’ environments.
