Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are acting on behalf of a client to recruit an
Electrical Design Engineer
Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer based in Barnsley; they are looking for someone who will be responsible for the electrical design, supporting the controls engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Using AutoCAD software to produce Electrical designs.
- Working from specifications and overseen by the Electrical Contract Manger to provide engineered solutions.
- Involvement from enquiry and concept design through to detailed design in the project’s lifecycle.
- Providing design progress and forecast to the Electrical Contract Manger.
- Attending client and sub-contractor meetings to support the project by providing technical expertise.
- Production of test documents and attending at panel manufacturers premises for Factory Acceptance Testing
- Keeping abreast of the latest developments in electrical engineering.
Requirements:
List of Essential knowledge and experience

- An Engineering qualification to at least level 4 (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
- Proficient in AutoCAD and cable design software.
- Have a working knowledge of BS EN 60204 and BS7671 to produce compliant designs.
- Minimum 5 years relevant design experience
- Experienced in control panel/ MCC design ideally with Siemens equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems including electrical distribution equipment, motor control centres, and PLC control panels.
- Proficient in producing, single line diagrams, schematics, materials lists (BOM), cable calculations and cable schedules.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Able to work proactively both individually and as part of a small team.
List of Desirable knowledge and experience

- A knowledge and understanding of AC/DC drives systems.
- Familiar with hydraulic systems.
- Experience of Safety Related Control Systems to BS EN IEC 62061 or BS EN ISO 13849
- Experience of installation and commissioning procedures would be an advantage.
Our client is paying £45k-£55k salary dependant on experience.
Working hours – 37 hours a week 08.30 – 5pm Mon to Thurs / 08.30 to 1.30pm on Fridays (flexible start and finish time and opportunity to work one day a week from home at Manager discretion).
Holiday – 25 days plus 8 statutory holidays.
