Overview
We are seeking a diligent and proactive Commercial Accounts Assistant to join our team on an 8-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The role is working 40 hours per week.

This role supports the Commercial Manager and the operational team at our warehousing and distribution center on Portbury.

Your day will be varied, including financial and operational data management, reporting, and analysis.

You'll gain confidence using programs such as excel and SAP and enjoy working with numbers and data.

There will be a learning period before the current Trainee Commercial Accountant starts their maternity leave and a handover period at the end of the contract.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Check integrity of supplier Purchase Order Request & Raise purchase orders.
  • Prepare weekly company service reports for review and customer monthly reports as required.
  • Provide financial and operational data to support the commercial manager and the operational team.
  • Support with preparation and data input of weekly reports forecasting the monthly financial performance based on operational inputs.
  • Support Commercial Manager with ad hoc projects as required.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the Export function of the operation.
Handover and Transition:
  • Collaborate with the Trainee Commercial Accountant before their leave to understand ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ensure a smooth transition of duties and responsibilities.
  • Prepare comprehensive handover documentation and assist the Trainee Commercial Accountant upon their return.
About you
Essential:
  • Previous experience in a similar accounting or finance role
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can-do approach and happy to be flexible
Desirable:
  • Experience in warehousing and distribution is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience in a commercial accounts environment
This role is based on-site at our warehousing and distribution centre. The location does not benefit from good public transport links so own transport will be required.
