Recruiting for a well established heritage brand in the food ingredients business and part of a multi-national global gropu are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Specifications Technologist to join their Quality team which is expanding.

Job Summary:
As a Specifications Technologist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining product specifications, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, customer requirements, and industry standards. You will work closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Sales teams to deliver accurate and timely technical information for our wide range of food ingredient products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain detailed product specifications for food ingredients, ensuring they meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, review, and verify technical information.
  • Update and maintain the internal specification database, ensuring all documentation is current and compliant.
  • Review customer specifications and ensure products meet the necessary criteria.
  • Assist in the development of new products by creating and maintaining specifications during the NPD process.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain and review ingredient specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including allergen management, nutritional information, and labeling requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing teams by supplying product information and responding to customer queries.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, adapting specifications as required.
  • Support the Quality Assurance team with technical documentation for audits and certifications.

Key Requirements:

  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a specifications or technical role within the food industry, preferably in food ingredients.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., BRC, FSSC 22000, GFSI) and labeling laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with specification management software is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
