Role - Civils Site Manager & Supervisor

Location - Thurrock, Essex

Mint Selection are partnered with the UK's leading IPP who are seeking an experienced Civils Site Manager & Supervisor to oversee and manage the civil construction aspects of a large-scale BESS project. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all civil works, ensuring that construction activities are carried out safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The works will include a large concrete pour and CFA piling so experience of heavy civils is needed.

Job Scope of work:

  • Lead and oversee all civil construction activities on-site, including earthworks, foundations, drainage, roads, and structures related to the BESS and Gas Peaking facilities.

  • Manage a team of civil engineers, foremen, technicians, and subcontractors, ensuring all work is performed according to project specifications, timelines, and budget.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of all project components.

  • Ensure all civil works comply with relevant standards, codes, and specifications.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.

  • Identify and rectify any defects or issues promptly to avoid project delays.

  • Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations on-site.

  • Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and ensure all personnel are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties safely.

  • Investigate any incidents or near-misses, implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Develop and maintain detailed civil work schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

  • Liaise with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to provide regular updates on progress, risks, and issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of all civil work, including daily logs, inspection reports, and material usage.

  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager.

  • Assist in the preparation of final project documentation, including as-built drawings and operation manuals.

Experienced to be considered:

  • SSSTS or SMSTS

  • CSCS

  • CPCS Lifting Ticket preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in a civil supervisory role within the construction or energy sector.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale civil construction projects from earthworks through to commissioning.

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, including structural, geotechnical, and environmental aspects.

This role will be an initial 12 month contract with a high probability of extension and it is also Outside IR35.
