Coded Welder

We are seeking an experienced Coded Pipe Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding high-pressure pipes and working in compliance with industry codes and standards. You will be responsible for executing precise welding tasks in various challenging environments, ensuring all welds meet stringent quality standards.

Coded Welder Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality welding on a variety of pipe materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome molly, according to specific industry codes (ASME, BS EN, or similar).
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, P&ID’s, and welding specifications and procedures to complete assigned projects.
  • Conduct welding inspections to ensure that all welds meet the required safety and quality standards.
  • Use various welding techniques such as TIG, MIG, Stick (MMA), and FCAW for pipe
  • installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Perform welding on high-pressure piping systems and Boiler systems in various industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, and construction.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and
  • environmental regulations.
  • Conduct pre-weld and post-weld activities such as joint preparation, alignment, and material handling.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, foreman, supervisors, and other team members to ensure the completion of projects on time and within specifications.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure they are in safe and optimal working condition.
  • Perform welds to undergo non-destructive testing (NDT) as required to assess weld integrity.
  • Troubleshoot welding issues, making necessary adjustments to equipment or techniques to achieve optimal results.
  • Keep accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and any necessary weld records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to enhanced welding techniques and safety practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid welding certification in accordance with recognised industry standards (e.g., ASME, BS EN).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a coded welder, preferably in pipe welding in industrial environments.
  • Proficiency or NVQ in TIG, MIG, Stick (MMA), and FCAW welding processes.
  • Experience working with high-pressure piping systems and Boilers in industries such as oil and gas, power generation, or chemical processing.
  • Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and testing requirements
  • Excellent understanding of weld inspection procedures, including non-destructive testing methods.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, moisture).
  • Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow all relevant health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other trades and departments.
  • City & Guilds in Welding and Fabrication, CCNSG (Safety Passport) in Occupational Health & Safety, ACE Card in Welding
