Cost Accountant – Manufacturing

Location: Glasgow

Elevation Recruitment Group's Senior Finance division are recruiting a Cost Accountant for a successful manufacturing business based in Livingstone.

This role would provide an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious CIMA/ACCA part-qualified or fully qualified accountant to join an established finance team. You will work closely along the Assistant Financial Controller to improve efficiency and productivity so that schedules and customer needs are met as well as identifying and implementing continuous improvement activities.

Duties of the Senior Management Accountant includes:

• Maintain and improve the Cost Accounting function, providing the management team and overall business with a timely and efficient service
• Ensure the Company adheres to sound accounting principles, reviewing and identifying potential problem areas and addressing these with an action plan
• Maintain accurate costing information to assist in the pricing of products for the company
• Have a strong understanding of inventory procedures, support and offer guidance on inventory processes and audit internal controls
• Produce and understand Variable Cost information issued to Operations and Senior Management on a weekly basis
• Carry out Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Journal Vouchers
• Prepare and understand Material Usage and Purchase Price Variances
• Support other areas of Department when required
• Carry out any other reasonable task as requested

Key skills & experience required:

• Part qualified CIMA/ACCA
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience of working within an accountancy function within a manufacturing environment is advantageous
• Good analytical skills
• Good Communication skills
• Have a flexible “can do” attitude
