About the company:
This Ofsted-rated "Good" training provider specialises in supporting young people who thrive outside traditional academic environments. We create tailored learning opportunities that combine vocational and academic pathways, helping students gain the skills they need for apprenticeships, employment, or further education. We are committed to helping young people overcome barriers and unlock their potential.

The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of young people who have faced challenges in mainstream education. You will work closely with teachers to deliver lessons and support students in gaining both qualifications and essential life skills. The role will involve:
• Leading small group activities to help students stay on task, ensuring they complete assigned activities.
• Supporting individual students with special educational needs (SEN), providing tailored assistance that meets their specific learning requirements.
• Helping to manage classroom behaviour, working alongside the teacher to address behavioural and emotional challenges.
• Delivering SEN interventions to students with education, health, and care plans (EHCP), focusing on language difficulties, complex needs, or other barriers to learning.
• Providing feedback and encouragement to students to boost their confidence and self-belief, motivating them to succeed in both academic and vocational areas.
• Assisting in the implementation of lesson plans, working with the teacher to set learning objectives and support testing/assessments.
• Monitoring student progress, ensuring that any concerns are communicated effectively with the teaching team.
• Helping students develop key skills for future success, including preparing for apprenticeships or further education.
This role requires a compassionate, patient approach, as you will be working with students who may have had negative experiences with education in the past. You’ll be a positive role model, guiding them to build their self-esteem and realise their potential.

Key Requirements:
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
• Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (minimum requirement).
• Experience working with SEN students, including those with EHCPs, language difficulties, or other complex needs.
• A solid understanding of the statutory requirements for safeguarding, SEN support, and health and safety within a school or college environment.
• Previous experience working closely with teachers to plan and deliver activities, and independently supporting small groups or individual learners.
• Effective behaviour management skills, particularly in working with students who may present challenging behaviours due to their experiences or learning difficulties.
• A strong determination to raise achievement levels, with the resilience to handle emotionally demanding situations and support students with a range of needs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, where all students feel supported and valued.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car, as travel may be required for external activities or events.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people. If you are ready to inspire and support students to reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you.
The organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the role, including an enhanced DBS check.
