Central is currently recruiting for a Housing Management Worker, to work in the Islington area. The service provides support to young people who have slept rough or are at immediate risk of rough sleeping.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 3 months. The pay rate is £14.17 per hour, with £ 2.13 holiday pay, totalling £16.30 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;

  • Work proactively with keyworkers and clients to develop personal payment plans to support clients not to incur rental debt
  • Work with the keyworkers and clients to collect of rents and service charges and hold responsibility for the accurate reporting of rental income, voids and allocations to the finance team
  • Liaise with local Housing Benefit Teams, Social Service Departments or other authorities regarding individual rental income claims
  • Advise all prospective or new tenants/residents of their rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/license agreement
  • Ensure that repairs are undertaken to a high standard, within an appropriate time frame and represent value for money
  • Be the first point of contact for landlord queries and contractors
  • Facilitate the fair allocation of letting accommodation in accordance with Policy and Procedures
  • Ensure that accommodation units are well maintained in accordance with the management agreement and for bringing them quickly into management to minimize void loss
  • Prepare short reports on arrears, voids and repairs, as required
  • Ensure that all common parts and grounds of managed properties are in good maintenance order
  • Maintain Health and Safety standards in the premises and be a point of information for clients regarding Health and Safety

  • An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance use or care leavers
  • Experience of working within a supported and/or social housing setting
  • An understanding and commitment to working in an assets based way
  • Experience of liaising with contractors and landlords
  • Knowledge and understanding of housing management
  • Knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
  • The ability to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures
  • High level understanding of professional boundaries and ability to maintain boundaries

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
