Learning Support Assistant
Location: Secondary School, Lewisham
Start Date: Immediately
Employment Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (until the end of the academic year)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Are you passionate about supporting young people in their educational journey? Our mainstream secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is committed to fostering a positive learning environment and making a real difference in the lives of students.
Responsibilities:
- Support Students: Assist teachers in providing targeted support to students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Adapt Learning Materials: Help adapt and modify learning resources to meet the individual needs of students.
- Monitor Progress: Track and report on students' progress, ensuring that appropriate interventions are implemented as needed.
- Promote Inclusion: Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and engagement from all students.
- Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with teaching staff, educational psychologists, and other professionals to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Provide Personal Care: Assist with personal care needs of students when required.
- Support Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and manage any challenging situations.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous child-based experience is essential, with a strong preference for experience in a secondary school setting.
- SEND Knowledge: Proven experience working with students with SEND and a clear understanding of their needs and challenges.
- DBS Clearance: A current DBS certificate on the update service is required for this role.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with students, parents, and staff.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of the classroom.
- Passion for Education: A genuine enthusiasm for working with young people and supporting their learning and development.
