About Becketwell Live, Derby

Becketwell Live is a cutting-edge events complex with a capacity of up to 3,500 people. It is designed to host a variety of events, including large corporate conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, major touring concerts, stand-up comedy, family performances, and sporting events. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a brand-new venue.

Please Note: This role is Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week (annualised, this will include working evenings and weekends)

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, as the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for leading the Operations Team at Becketwell Live ensuring the efficient and safe planning and execution of events. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of facility management and customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You will be an inspirational leader to the operations team, ensuring effective event planning and delivery while maintaining high levels of customer and client care.
  • As a head of department, you will contribute to the strategic plans and objectives of the venue
  • You will implement and ensure compliance with all company policies, statutory regulations, employment legislation.
  • You will be a health and safety ambassador ensuring that events are adequately risk assessed to protect the safety and wellbeing of our guests.
  • Along with the General Manager and Finance Business Partner, you will set and monitor budgets, ensuring the financial viability of the department.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A proven track record of working in a senior operations role within a similar, mixed-programme venue.
  • A Personal Licence (desirable)
  • Familiarity with Derby and regional entertainment offerings and venues.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and margin control.
  • Proven knowledge of event and building management, including maintenance and custodial functions across various areas such as M&E, security, housekeeping, and health & safety.
  • Experience in managing statutory requirements.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer care.
