A supportive and inclusive High school in Warrington is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This role involves working closely with children who have special educational needs (SEN), providing tailored support to ensure they thrive in both academic and social aspects of school life.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEN and a strong understanding of strategies that support their individual learning needs. Working alongside the class teacher and the school's SEN team, you'll help create an inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to SEN pupils, particularly in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and communication.
  • Supporting the emotional and social development of children, helping to foster a positive, caring, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies in line with the school's SEN policy.
  • Assisting with the preparation of learning materials and adapting resources to meet the specific needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Supporting the class teacher in monitoring and tracking the progress of SEN pupils, providing regular feedback to inform future planning.
  • Assisting with any personal care needs that pupils may require, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
  • Supervising and ensuring the well-being of SEN pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school or educational setting.
  • A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach to working with children who require additional support.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of strategies for supporting children with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with the school's policies.
