Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer on a permanent basis, located in West Midlands (Hybrid working - Mon/Tue/Thurs office based and Wed/Fri WFH).

Responsibilities

To provide process input at internal tender strategy/review process review meetings and follow up with agreed actions.

When allocated, to provide process/technical input to project teams during contract execution. This will include the preparation of process documentation under the guidance of a Senior or Principal engineer, including Statement of Design Basis, Process guarantees, Process Block Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Flow/Heat/Mass balances, Process Data Sheets, Process Descriptions and Control Philosophies, Outline and Detailed Process Calculations, Hydraulics Calculations and Hydraulic Profile for submission to the Lead Design Co-ordinator, Project Manager or Proposals Engineer.

  • To assess the technical content of returned quotations.
  • To check orders prepared by Purchasing for technical correctness.
  • To respond to technical queries raised by vendors
  • To arrive at a thorough understanding of the Client and Company specifications and to fully define the process requirements of the works.
  • To communicate fully with the Lead Design Co-Ordinator, Project Manager, Proposals Engineer, other members of the team, other departments and sections of the Company, the Client, vendors and subcontractors on matters relating to the proposal or project.
  • To provide process input at design meetings, internal and client, including HAZOP studies and Value Engineering.
  • To provide process/technical input into commissioning programming and troubleshooting activities.
  • Checking of hydraulic and process calculations as required.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the collection of operational/performance data from sites.
  • Participate in the development of computer aided process design techniques.
  • Carry out field/pilot studies and tests.
  • Provide sales support as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of standards, design note, manuals and the like.
  • Keep abreast of developments in technology areas relevant to the Company’s activities.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of technical files for library.
  • To comply with all Health and Safety responsibilities commensurate with the role, as outlined in the Health and Safety policy
  • To comply with all Environmental responsibilities commensurate with the role, as outlined in the Environmental Management System
  • To contribute to the preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned from time to time

Essential Criteria

- A degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Chemical or Process Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.

- Ability to use a wide range of IT packages including Microsoft office

- Demonstrable experience commensurate to the level of the role (approximately 3 to 5 years) as a Process Engineer preferably within the water/wastewater industry.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and integrates well into a team environment

- Good communication skills, both written and oral

- Enthusiasm, proactiveness

Desirable Criteria

- Working towards a Chartered Engineer, Eur Ing or similar status

- Experience of participating in Hazop studies

- Experience of using BioWin design model
