As a Planning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and maintaining project schedules, ensuring that all phases of the project are delivered on time and within budget. Working closely with the project management and construction teams, you will be responsible for identifying key milestones, forecasting potential delays, and ensuring that resources are efficiently allocated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Develop detailed project programmes for residential and education new build projects, ensuring timelines are realistic and aligned with client expectations.
  • Schedule Management: Maintain and update project schedules throughout the lifecycle of each project, identifying potential risks or delays and proposing corrective actions.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment on project timelines and deliverables.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track project progress against the agreed programme, preparing regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Critical Path Analysis: Identify the critical path for each project and ensure that all activities on this path are completed on time to avoid delays.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential scheduling risks and delays, working with project teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Software Utilization: Utilize project planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject) to develop, monitor, and update project schedules.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all planning activities comply with company standards, contractual obligations, and industry regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Planning Engineer within the construction industry, ideally in residential or education new build projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, or Microsoft Project.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and critical path analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant industry qualifications would be advantageous.
