• Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
• Location: Reading
• Contract Length: 12 Months
• Pay Rates: Up To £80 hour (Umbrella)

Job Purpose:

• As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will provide mechanical designs for the Facility Design Authority (FDA) to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and engineering requirements throughout the facility lifecycle.
• Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Deliver mechanical designs that meet safety and performance requirements.
• Maintain an understanding of relevant legislative documentation and standards.
• Ensure designs comply with engineering legislation, standards, and requirements.
• Create mechanical engineering designs addressing defined requirements across the engineering lifecycle.
• Maintain design intent in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Apply engineering best practices and elevate concerns to the Principal Engineer.
• Working knowledge of legislation and standards in mechanical engineering design.
• Competency in standard office software and engineering tools.

Qualifications:

• ONC / OND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• HNC / HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Memberships: Membership of an engineering institution at Eng. Tech level is preferred.
• Knowledge of legislation and standards for nuclear and/or high hazard facilities. (Desired)
• Proven experience in producing mechanical designs as part of a multi-discipline team. (Desired)
• Experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably nuclear and/or explosives. (Desired)
