Conveying Design Engineer
Location: Carlisle
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Role:
We are seeking a Conveying Design Engineer to join a global leader in can-making machinery. You'll take approved can line layouts from concept to installation, working on everything from mass production designs to custom one-off solutions. With full manufacturing capabilities in-house, this is a unique opportunity to see your designs come to life. There’s also scope for international travel to existing can plants for upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with sales and project teams to develop design requirements.
• Improve existing product lines and processes, identifying efficiencies and cost savings.
• Use 2D and 3D CAD systems (SolidWorks) to design product lines and visualise concepts.
• Create technical reports and communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
• Manage projects from concept through to commissioning, ensuring on-time delivery within budget.

What You’ll Need:

• Essential:

  • HNC in Engineering or higher.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (laser cutting, folding, etc.)
  • Experience in 3D modelling and technical drawings to ISO standards.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel abroad (2-3 times a year).

• Desirable:

  • Degree in Engineering (BA/BSc).
  • Experience with Inventor, AutoCAD, and MRP systems (training available).
