Senior Design Engineer | Sheffield | £40 - £50 per hour (OUTSIDE IR35) | Hybrid

Opportunity

Ford & Stanley Interim are seeking an experienced CAD Design Engineer to join our clients dynamic engineering team in Sheffield.

Our client has several highly confidential and security sensitive projects, and due to this we require a well-seasoned Design professional to play a key role in the design and development of bespoke mechanical handling systems and large-scale moving structures.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on unique, high-profile projects that push the boundaries of engineering innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of bespoke mechanical handling systems, using AutoCAD or similar.
• Custom Engineering Solutions: Design tailored systems for specific client needs, considering operational functionality, load-bearing requirements, and safety standards.
• Structural and Mechanical Design: Work on the design of mechanical and structural components, ensuring that they meet strength, stability, and performance criteria through techniques like stress analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Project Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, manufacturing teams, and clients to ensure designs meet technical specifications, are feasible for manufacturing, and adhere to project timelines.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all designs comply with industry regulations, including safety standards, while optimizing for performance and durability.
• Prototyping and Testing: Support the prototyping and testing phases, analysing data to refine and improve designs based on feedback and performance.

Essential Criteria to secure interview

• 8+ years’ experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar platforms
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Experience working with automated or moving mechanical systems.
• Ability to gain full SC Clearance.
