We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to work for a busy Waste Management company based in Oxfordshire.

Working Hours:

  • Average 45 hours per week over a two-week cycle:
    • Week 1: Monday to Friday, 5:30 AM - 2:30 PM
    • Week 2: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, plus Saturday mornings, 5:30 AM - 10:30 AM

Job Overview:

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles to high standards, adhering to DVSA requirements. You will work within a team to ensure all vehicles are in top condition, performing tasks such as addressing daily defects, conducting service maintenance, preparing new vehicles (including EVs), and handling MOTs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare new vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), for service.
  • Maintain and repair a mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles.
  • Conduct service maintenance, inspections, and MOTs in line with DVSA regulations.
  • Diagnose and rectify daily defects and perform general repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Training and Development:

  • Training will be provided to achieve IMI Level 4 (Electric Vehicle Course) and IRTEC Large Vehicle Inspection qualification.
  • Manufacturer body training courses for a wide range of equipment types will be offered.
  • No HGV licence? Full training will be provided to obtain it.

What You'll Need:

  • Essential: Experience working with large goods vehicles.
  • Preferred: City & Guilds HGV Parts 1, 2 & 3 or NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • If you lack formal qualifications, 10 years of experience working on HGV vehicles is required.
