GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with an industry-leading organisation that specialise in the performance of process plant and equipment, used to convey, store, or process bulk solid materials within utilities, primary manufacturing, and process industries.

Our client is looking to add to this continued success and period of growth by recruiting an experienced Project Design Engineer to join their site in Kidderminster, but to also be an active presence onsite with clients throughout the UK.

This is a full time, permanent position that can offer a salary up to £50,000 plus excellent company benefits and great career progression opportunities.

You will support the operations department in ensuring the companies compliance with all relevant legislation and in any activities and that will ensure projects of both in-house and on-site are managed and organised in a cost effective and safe manner ensuring complete customer satisfaction.

To be considered you MUST demonstrate project and technical experience, with a focus on the design element, within industrial construction or similar site engineering.

Project Design Engineer main duties:

  • The management and control of orders received from customers ranging from supply only to turnkey contracts consisting of design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
  • Administration of the site project work areas always ensuring that these areas are kept in an efficient and controlled fashion.
  • To act on verbal or written instructions received from the Operations department in relation
  • to order processing and discussions in respect to labour allocation rework load and forward orders.
  • Carryout and complete design engineering of contracts from inputs received through the sales department (or from site measurements) to ensure details are prepared and available for the satisfactory manufacture and installation of product in line with customer expectation.
  • Conduct site visits and collect information, specifications, measurements regarding project.
  • Produce Method Statements & risk assessments related to the repair / installation of the project.
  • Carryout design activities using a variety of CAD software and producing information for manufacturing purposes.
  • Be part of and assist in specifying the latest design technology in order that the Company can harness all available resources’ in meeting its design obligations.
  • Assisting with the management and control of orders received from customers ranging from supply only to turnkey contracts consisting of design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
  • Implementing contract management policies and procedures to ensure the Gross Margin Profit (50%) of contracts is achieved and bettered, if possible, through cost control management.
  • Cost control throughout contracts in live time.
  • Review material usages on contracts assisting in ensuring that materials are readily available in line with contractual requirements

Project Design Engineer desired skills and experience:

  • Proven project and technical experience, with a focus on the design element, industrial construction or similar site engineering essential.
  • Project design engineer within the industrial or construction industry desired.
  • Someone with mechanical understanding and solid manufacturing industry knowledge, that can talk knowledgably and credibly with staff and the target customer base.
  • Understanding of site services, able to be out there with customers and advising accordingly as well as back at site.
  • Culturally, a strong fit with the size of business and nature of the environment.
