Quest Employment are seeking a reliable and mechanically minded Mechanical Fitter to join our client's team. The role will involve setting up and maintaining a variety of machines, with a focus on ensuring smooth production and minimizing downtime.

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter / Machine Setter

Location: ST4

Salary: £13.72/h per hour (increasing to £14.33/h once training completed)

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:00 to 15:45
  • Friday: 07:00 to 12:45
  • Overtime: Saturday overtime may be required once or twice a month

Key Responsibilities:

  • 75% of the role: Setting up extruders and various cutting machines to ensure the production of products at the correct sizes.
  • 25% of the role: Responding to machine breakdowns and carrying out necessary repairs to get them operational as quickly as possible.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance to prevent future breakdowns.
  • Assist with other mechanical tasks as required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong mechanical knowledge is essential.
  • Experience in machine setup and maintenance, particularly with extruders and cutting machines, is desirable.
  • Welding skills or basic electrical knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, especially in high-pressure situations.
