We're on the lookout for a Machine Operator to join our well established and respected client based in Loughborough on a full-time basis - both temporary and permanent candidates considered.

Pay: £13.64 per hour

Hours: 07:15 - 16:15 Monday - Thursday and 07:15 - 12:15 on Friday.

The Role:

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible to use a variety of manual machines (e.g. lathes, guillotines, press etc.) to drill and mill steel. The successful candidate will have knowledge of technical drawings and understand specifications to achieve our clients desired result. As well as quality check by inspecting and measuring products to ensure it meets the necessary requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand, read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with establish procedures and guidelines.
  • Operate machinery to fabricate beams, columns or other steel components for manufacturing.
  • Maintain and monitor machines to make sure they function properly.
  • Conduct quality checks periodically.
  • Ensure adequate materials and supplies are available to complete operations as needed.
  • Adjust machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production.
  • Use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirement.
  • Supervise the machine whilst executing the task and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specification, regulations and instructions.
  • Always maintain equipment and work area is clean and safe at all times.
  • Measure mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Operate all necessary safety equipment and ensure correct PPE is used at all times.

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to understand, read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safe machine practice standards.
  • Knowledge of heavy gauge steel production procedures.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
