About the Assistant Technical Manager job
The purpose of your role will be to ensure all technical issues are dealt with effectively and efficiently, ensure that all procedures are adhered to by employees and champion product safety, legality, and quality systems.
Key tasks
- Manage the Technical Assistance Team, overseeing attendance, workload, performance, appraisals, and development. Deputise for the Technical Manager as needed, ensuring the team meets departmental targets through collaboration.
- Support the Technical Manager and Production Manager in maintaining the safety, legality, and quality of products. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation for finished products and factory standards while promoting improvements to the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with factory compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments for any breaches or issues in standard processing or factory operations, proposing action plans or corrective measures. Manage the corrective action system and ensure the effective operation of the HACCP system through regular reviews.
- Oversee responses to customer complaints and provide updates to the Technical Manager. Manage process changes and product launches to meet all technical requirements while supporting technical and process innovations. Communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
About You
- A food science degree or equivalent is essential.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the fresh food industry with a background of successfully managing a team.
- A HACCP & risk assessment background is required.

The Assistant Technical Manager job (ref:8782) is based in Corby, Northamptonshire and is paying up to £36,000 according to your experience. This role is a 12 month FTC.
The package includes 33 days annual leave including bank holidays, Life Insurance, Employee Assistance Program, Retailer discounts, wellbeing calendar, 4% Employer pension after 3 months, BUPA Private Medical and BUPA Cashplan.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, Office Hours (with flexibility).
