Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pipefitter to join our team, specializing in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipe systems for water distribution and treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial or commercial pipefitting and experience working with water and wastewater systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of water services by installing pipelines, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of Pipe Systems:
- Install, assemble, and align pipe systems in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards.
- Fabricate, cut, thread, and weld pipes as needed, ensuring the integrity of joints and fittings.
- Fit, secure, and test pipes, ensuring all joints and systems are watertight.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on existing water distribution and treatment pipe systems.
- Identify and repair leaks, blockages, and other issues in pipelines.
- Replace worn or defective piping, valves, and components.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, safe working practices, and hazard identification.
- Follow water industry safety standards for working with pressure systems, confined spaces, and hazardous materials.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades to complete installations and repairs on time and within budget.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members regarding project progress, potential challenges, and resource requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including pipe installations, maintenance, and any repairs carried out.
- Report any safety incidents, delays, or issues to the site supervisor in a timely manner.
- Required:
- Proven experience as a Pipefitter in the water industry or a related field such as oil, gas, or utilities.
- Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, including welding, threading, and bending.
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
- Familiarity with water treatment systems, pumps, valves, and pressure control devices.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in the water industry.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, when necessary.
- Preferred:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Pipefitting, Plumbing, or Mechanical Engineering.
- CSCS card or equivalent industry qualification.
- Confined Space Training or willingness to complete training.
- Welding certifications (TIG/MIG/Stick) or relevant trade qualifications.
- Experience with both PVC and metal piping systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with effective communication skills.
- Time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy materials and work in challenging conditions.
- Work may be conducted both indoors and outdoors, including in adverse weather conditions.
- May require work in confined spaces, at heights, or with hazardous materials.
- Occasional travel may be required to various project sites.
