About the Role:
A welcoming primary school in Hackney is seeking a compassionate and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal communication needs. This role is ideal for someone with a nurturing approach who can create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for young learners. You will play a vital role in helping children with additional needs thrive in their early years of education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to EYFS children, particularly those with ASD and non-verbal communication needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to implement effective strategies that promote communication and engagement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of activities that cater to the individual needs of students, encouraging their participation and learning.
  • Use appropriate communication methods, including visual aids and sign language, to support non-verbal learners.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with ASD and non-verbal communication challenges in an early years setting.
  • Strong understanding of autism and the ability to apply appropriate support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with young learners and their families.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in early childhood education, childcare, or SEN support are preferred.
