The Opportunity: Workshop Manager

Contract: Permanent 

Location: Cannock

The Impact you will have:

  • To forecast, on a weekly basis, the capacity of the team and ensure correct resources are in place in line with customer demand patterns.
  • Ensure equipment is prepared to industry standards (including quality, timings and guarantee requirements).
  • To effectively communicate with all team members, including one to one’s and toolbox talks, where training needs can be identified and performance standards can be set and achieved, including apprentices.
  • To delegate jobs to engineers depending on skills and experience.
  • To provide basic technical advice and support when required.
  • Ensure good adherence and compliance to working processes and ensuring these are always followed.
  • Work with workshop Admin to manage WIP to an agreed level.
  • To support the principle of continuous improvements using customer needs as a basis for process improvements.
  • To comply with company SHEQ policies.
  • To ensure all possible warranty claims are identified and processed in line with company and manufacturer procedures.
  • To be responsible for and control of overtime and labour requirements, all to be authorised by the Group Workshop & Logistics Manager.
  • To conduct and support with initial team employee relation matters. Such as performance review, investigations and team meetings etc.
  • To support all on-site service contracts such as cleaning/building work/ground maintenance, fire protection, waste and security.
  • Supervise all 3rd party contractors and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Maintain site records for the facility   such as fire, services and contractor records including statutory reports.

What will help you to excel in this role:

  • Demonstrable ability to effectively lead a team in a safe and compliant manner
  • A proven track record of driving performance against KPI’s
  • A good standard of communication skills
  • Exceptional levels of organisation, numeracy and literacy and the ability to effectively co-ordinate workshop resource to exceed customer requirements
  • Good levels of Computer literacy with a good knowledge of word, excel and PowerPoint
